Mr. Pointment vs. Cloudy Lane

Whilst many horseracing fans will be focusing on events at Cheltenham Racecourse in the coming weeks, punters shouldn’t lose sight of the battle shaping between the leading contenders for the 2008 Grand National at Aintree.

For several weeks the 2008 Grand National odds tables have witnessed a tussle for ante-post supremacy between the 2008 Grand National runners as they have competed in a series of preliminary races.

Mr. Pointment and Cloudy Lane, whilst not exactly neck and neck in the tables, are the two clear favourites for the 2008 Grand National, and this weekend at Doncaster racing fans will have a rare opportunity to watch both runners in action at the 2008 Grimthrope Chase.

The 2008 Grimpthorpe Chase will be the first time Mr. Pointment has raced since announcing his arrival at the top of the 2008 Grand National odds table with a win at the Becher Chase in November.

Mr. Pointment’s performance on Saturday will therefore provide the first real opportunity to test the accuracy of the current odds tables. A win for either Snowy Morning or Mr. Pointment at the 2008 Grimthorpe Chase is likely to see a substantial contraction of ante-post odds for either runner.
